Connery…Sean Connery…

Although many have lived up to the name, only one will forever be ‘James Bond’…

And, when Sean decided to leave, George Lazenby filled the reigns quite nicely in one piece, before Sean came back…

Then, Roger Moore took over for, what turned out to be, the most forgettable series of films, that never got back to what Bond was all about (with the possible exception of “For Your Eyes Only”…)

But then, Timothy Dalton stepped into the shoes, and, although neither of his efforts had the scripts he deserved, the actor himself brought to the screen what Ian Fleming had imagined on the page, and Bond was clearly back…

And, after much contract wrangling, Pierce Brosnan then stepped into the role with the aplomb of David Niven, and the believability of Mr. Connery…

After two good features and two really bad ones, Pierce stepped down to make way for Daniel Craig, who came on the scene looking more like Steve McQueen rather than James Bond, and his first effort, “Casino Royale”, had none of the style or feel of a true Bond film…

The next disaster, “Quantum Of Solace”…the less said, the better…

And now, “Skyfall”, the best in the Daniel Craig series by far, and a worthy successor, (finally!), to the James Bond legacy…

At once perhaps thought to be ‘outdated’ and ‘running out of steam’, with this latest entry, now available on dvd, it is clearly a time for 007 to enter the new millennium once again…
