LINDEN – Police arrested a 49-year-old Bayonne man who allegedly tried to sell a Parlin man his own boat via Craigslist.

Gregory B. Bartucci was charged with attempted theft by deception and was being held on $10,000 bail.

On Feb. 11, a 46-year-old Parlin man reported to police that when he was looking at Craigslist ads for boats for sale, he saw a picture of his own boat which was stored in a trailer on private property in Linden for the winter. The victim called “Chad,” the man who placed the listing to sell the boat for $950 and arranged to meet him to see it. On Feb. 12, the victim met “Chad” at the boat’s location and called police, who placed the suspect under arrest.

The charge against Bartucci is merely an accusation and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
