SOUTH BRUNSWICK – American Legion Post 401 of South Brunswick recently donated headphones to the NJ Veterans Memorial Home in Menlo Park.

Last year the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center’s “Outspoken Library” kiosk was installed at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park. The kiosk is designed to enable the veterans who have impaired vision, a physical disability that makes it difficult to hold a book, or a learning disability, to download audiobooks from the National Library Services Braille and Audio Reading (BARD) Program which they can play on a free listening device.

But in that type of environment, users really needed headphones so as not to disturb others. Post 401 appropriated funds to make that happen. Gary Cooper, commander, presented Christine Caratozzolo, recreation director of the facility, with a bunch of headphones and sanitary headphone covers for the residents to use.

“Our efforts have been generously supported by so many veterans service organizations in the state. Here is one more excellent example of how these partnerships have blossomed to enrich the lives of veterans,” said Adam Szczepaniak, director of the Talking Book and Braille Center.”
