Heart Association Seeks Women Of Distinction

STATE — The American Heart Association is currently seeking nominations for its Seventh Annual New Jersey Go Red For Women® “Woman of Distinction” Award sponsored by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. This award recognizes and honors New Jersey women who work towards promoting a healthy lifestyle for or among women, make a sustained, unique or extraordinary effort to improve the community, support and advance women issues or serve as a role model to other women.

The award, which will be presented at the American Heart Association Garden State Go Red For Women Luncheon on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Palace in Somerset, is part of the American Heart Association Go Red For Women® movement. This initiative, sponsored nationally by Macy’s and Merck, raises women’s awareness of heart disease and stroke and help women take action to reduce their personal risk for these deadly diseases, which remains the No. 1 and No. 4 leading causes of death across the country.

The American Heart Association Garden State Go Red For Women® Luncheon is a statewide educational event attended by nearly 500 New Jersey women (and men) and features an elegant luncheon reception, an inspirational keynote address and a series of educational breakout sessions.

Nominations for the Woman of Distinction Award are due no later than 5:00 pm, Friday, March 8,  in the following two categories:

  • Business, Industry, Healthcare
  • Education, Non-Profit, Community, Civic, Other.
