CLARK — The Arthur L. Johnson Varsity Bowling Team is on a “roll” – for the third straight season, Johnson has won two titles and is ranked #6 in the Star Ledger’s Top 20 poll. At the end of regular season play, Johnson clinched the Watchung Conference title and finished with a record of 12-1.
This year Johnson also won the Union County Championship, also a “three-peat” performance. The Crusaders were led by seniors Vincent DiGeronimo, Captain Danny Levitz and junior Steven Kotowski, all whom also qualified for the UCT individual tournament. Also making outstanding contributions and rounding out this year’s team are juniors Michael Griffin, Tom Malanga and Bobby Weisensee.
Levitz finished second in the county by six pins. Levitz rolled the tournament’s high game of 256 and had the second highest series of 682.
Coach Michele Zaleski said that she is “thrilled with the teams’ performance this season.” “We have proved that we can run with the top teams in the state so we are excited for the challenges that lie ahead.”
The team will compete in the Sectional State Tournament on Monday, Feb. 11, at Jersey Lanes in Linden.
