STATE – Someone won last night’s Powerball jackpot, worth $217.2 million. The winning numbers were 5, 27, 36, 38 and 41 and the red Powerball number was 12. The jackpot resets to $40 million for the next drawing on Saturday, Feb. 9.
The jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Virginia. Second prize tickets, worth at least $1 million, were sold in New York, Connecticut, Arizona, Illinois, Kentucky and Rhode Island. The Rhode Island ticket won $2 million because the purchaser opted for the Power Play prize-boosting option.
In total, there were 1,150,522 prize-winning tickets sold for last night’s Powerball drawing.
