CLARK — Just in time for the resurgence of hockey in arenas across the country, students in Mr. Fox’s classes at Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark have been learning rules and playing floor hockey games for the past few weeks.  Teams of 5 or 6 students play a modified version of the game  with small nets, a softer puck, and plastic hockey sticks. There are no goalies to make the game safer.

Students started out with puck control and passing eventually moving to passing to a moving target and shooting from different distances.  They have learned the rules and even experience penalties with the in-class penalty box.  Over the past weeks students have learned how passing the puck while moving creates open shots on the goal and easier ways to score a goal.  A double elimination tournament will commence this week with a champion being crowded by the end of the week.  (Photo courtesy of Clark Public Schools)
