OLD BRIDGE — A township man was arrested this morning and charged with the murder of his wife, Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce J. Kaplan and Chief William Volkert of the Old Bridge Police Department announced.
Leslaw Pabian, 53, was apprehended and was charged after Barbara Pabian, 53, was found dead in the Nottingham Drive home shortly before 12:34 a.m.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed today by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office. A preliminary review showed Mrs. Pabian apparently had been stabbed.
Police immediately began searching for the defendant, who was not at home when authorities arrived. He was apprehended at 5:34 a.m. as he was walking toward his work van, which was parked on Norman Lane in the township. He had worked as a self-employed framer.
The defendant remains in custody awaiting bail, which has not yet been set.
He was arrested and charged during an investigation by Detective Michael Blahota of the Old Bridge Police Department and Investigator Adrian Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Police determined that the couple has an adult son who lived with his parents, but was not at home at the time of the murder.
The investigation is continuing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to call Detective Blahota of the Old Bridge Police Department at 1-732-721-5600, extension 3271, or Investigator Villegas of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-732-745-4428.
As is the case with all criminal defendants, Leslaw Pabian is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
