CLARK — While reading The Princess Bride by William Goldman, students in Miss Wegbreit’s seventh grade language arts class at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark created cartoons satirizing typical fairy tales to imitate the story.
Each student chose a specific theme, element, or story to satirize using the different satirical techniques they learned, including exaggeration, irony, analogy, double entendre, juxtaposition, or paradox. They were to use the cartoon/ graphic novel means to showcase their understanding of satire since they discovered that The Princess Bride may, in fact, be an example of one.
