METUCHEN — Fourteen students from Edgar Middle School in Metuchen participated in the annual St. Joseph (Metuchen) High School Math Competition on Saturday, Jan. 12. The Edgar team placed fifth out of 22 middle schools. Edgar was the smallest school in the top five, finishing closely behind East Brunswick, Monroe, Warren Township, and Woodrow Wilson.

Participants included eighth graders Collin Draper, Nisarg Joshi, Anton Popov, Derya Sopher, Siri Uppuluri, Siya Zhang, and seventh graders Arnav Agrawal, Kassia Antin, Nina Chung, Evan Derector, Divij Gupta, Juliana Pirro, Denis Smirnov and Nicholas Tay. Faculty advisers Laura McCadden and Sandy Vorensky accompanied the team to the competition.
