PERTH AMBOY — Raritan Bay Medical Center has partnered with TeamHealth, one of the nation’s leading providers of emergency department staffing and management services. Under this arrangement, TeamHealth will manage a core group of community-based emergency physicians who will be dedicated to enhancing the level of emergency care at the medical center’s Old Bridge and Perth Amboy locations.
TeamHealth is the first national multi-specialty group to receive recognition from the US Department of Health & Senior Services as a certified Patient Safety Organization, and many of the departments the organization helps manage have earned national distinctions from leading patient experience and customer service organizations, including the Studer Group, Press Ganey and Malcolm Baldrige.
In recent years the medical center has taken steps to enhance its emergency services technology and facilities and has received several accolades regarding treatment quality. “Partnering with the experienced professionals from TeamHealth will enable us to continue to improve patient outcomes and safety as well as our customer service and wait times,” said Michael R. D’Agnes, president and CEO, Raritan Bay Medical Center. “Our partnership will help us achieve our high-quality benchmarks and augment our already substantial quality designations.”
According to the most recent New Jersey Hospital Performance Report, the medical center scored in New Jersey’s top 10 percent in care for pneumonia and heart failure, and in Middlesex County, scored among the best in care for heart attack. Additionally the medical center, a New Jersey state-designated primary stroke center, received the 2012 American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Heart Failure Gold and American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Awards, recognizing the optimal care of heart failure and stroke patients respectively.
In 2010, Raritan Bay Medical Center completed a $1 million expansion and renovation of its Perth Amboy emergency department. Both its Old Bridge and Perth Amboy emergency departments utilize electronic medical records to increase patient safety and cutting edge “see-thru CPR” defibrillator equipment and “Thermosuit” technology, providing a complete resuscitation package for patients.
With more than 350 emergency departments across the country, TeamHealth is the recognized industry leader. “We are excited about this opportunity to work in collaboration with hospital leadership, the medical staff and emergency department personnel to provide Central New Jersey with efficient and high-quality emergency department patient care,” said James George, MD, JD, president of TeamHealth East.
Raritan Bay Medical Center provides 24-hour emergency care to approximately 76,000 patients annually.
