CRANFORD – If you are interested in getting a federal job, learn all about the process and important information to help you stand out as a candidate. Each day thousands of federal jobs are posted on USAJOBS alone and you need to know which jobs you are qualified for. This class is taught by a certified federal career counselor from Veterans Vocations in partnership with Union County College.
This program is structured as two separate classes, Ten Steps to a Federal Job: Part One and Ten Steps to a Federal Job: Part Two. Part One will include a review of the first Five Steps to a Federal Job, including the federal job process, networking for success, researching vacancy announcements on USAJOBS, analyzing your core competencies, and analyzing vacancy announcements for key words. This class will be offered twice, on Saturday, Feb. 9, and again Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The $65 class cost will include a class manual, a federal job newspaper with thousands of job openings, presentation handouts, and more.
Part Two will teach the last Five Steps to a Federal Job which will include information on writing online and paper format federal style job resumes, how to prepare KSAs (Knowledge, Skills, and Ability applications), applying for jobs with federal automated recruitment systems, following up on your federal application, and interviewing for a federal job. This class will be offered twice, on Saturday, March 23, and again on Saturday, May 11, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. The $65 class cost will include a class manual, a federal job newspaper with thousands of job openings, presentation handouts, and more.
