CLARK — Kicking off their science chapter on “Energy and Change,” students in Ms. Gerlitz’s fifth grade class at Valley Road School in Clark conducted an experiment. While being introduced into the world of potential and kinetic energy, students used rubber bands and balloons to explore. Through observation, they learned that when you stretch a rubber band the energy is stored and when you let go, the energy is released. The activities provided the children the opportunity to interact with the concept of energy using a hands-on approach. Pictured above is Ronald Hoehn.
