CLARK — The seventh grade students in Ms. Qualshie and Ms. Drasin’s math class at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark have been working on solving word problems dealing with rates. In order to better understand the wording of the problem, students were encouraged to ‘act out’ the word problem in front of the class to decipher the situation that the problem was explaining. Once students were able to see what was going on in the problem, they worked as a class to set up equivalent rates and solve the problem.
