LINDEN – The city has officially granted permission for the Central Jersey Graduate Chapter of Groove Phi Groove SFI® to assume the care-taking duties of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monument at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Park in Linden’s Fourth Ward.

Last summer, Linden community leaders Patience Smith, Doyle Armstrong, the ladies of Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc., Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc., Tri-State Graduate Chapter Swing Phi Swing S.F.I. joined Councilman Derek Armstead along with various local Linden Organizations in a 9-11 Community Service cleanup day of the park in honor of the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country.

According to Councilman Derek Armstead, “We are forever indebted to the men and women who have served and continue to serve our country. “Sometimes it’s not about what your country can do for you but what we can do as citizens to make our city and country a better place.”
