CLARK — Saint John the Apostle School, located on the border of Clark and Linden, has been educating students in academics immersed in Catholic values and traditions for the past 60 years. The Pre-K through grade 8 school was recognized with a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
Saint John the Apostle School has announced its schedule of activities for Catholic Schools Week, and this year’s theme is “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards.”
On Sunday, Jan. 27, the school will show how “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our Parish” with Catholic Schools Week Mass at 9 a.m., an open house and registration for new students in grades Pre-K through 7 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., and a book fair from 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
On Monday, Jan. 28, the focus will be on “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our Community.” From 9-10 a.m. there will be an open house for school parents and new parents. From 9:30-11 a.m., there will be registration for new students, and from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. there will be a book fair. Pre-K students will compete in an olympics from 10-11 a.m., and there will be a forensics introduction from 1-2 p.m.
The focus for Tuesday, Jan. 29, will be “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our Students,” with morning assemblies about Women in History and a spelling bee for grades 2-5 in the auditorium from 1-2 p.m. The book fair continues from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m.
“Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our Nation” is the focus on Wednesday, Jan. 30, with Kindergarten Nursey Rhymes at 9 a.m. and a 2nd Grade Cultural Heritage program from 1-2 p.m., both in the auditorium. The book fair continues from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 31′s focus is “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our Vocations.” There will be Registrgation from 1-2 p.m., Math Olympics for grades 3, 4 and 5 from 1-2 p.m. and an Annex and Prayer Partners – Fractions in Literature program, also from 1-2 p.m. The book fair continues from 9 a.m. – noon and 6-8 p.m.
On the final day, Friday, Feb. 1, the them is “Catholic Schools Raise the Standards: In Our Faculty, Staff and Volunteers.” Mass will be held at 8:30 a.m., there will be volleyball games featuring students and faculty at 10:45 a.m. and classes will be dismissed at noon.
