Bishop To Break Ground For Diocese’s New Mausoleum In Piscataway

PISCATAWAY – Bishop Paul G. Bootkoski will preside at the groundbreaking and blessing ceremony for the Diocese of Metuchen’s soon-to-be-constructed Mausoleum of the Holy Spirit Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held on the grounds of Resurrection Burial Park, located on Hoes Lane and Park Avenue.

Mary Ellen Gerrity, director of the diocesan Office of Cemeteries, said the design of the new mausoleum has been underway for a year and construction is scheduled to begin this spring. Once built, the 12,500-square-foot indoor burial site will provide more than 1350 crypts and 435 granite and glass-front niches for cremated remains. Pre-construction prices are available, Gerrity added.

The new mausoleum will be the third to be constructed in the Catholic cemetery. The Twelve Apostles and Chapel of the Risen Christ mausoleums are also at Resurrection.
