PERTH AMBOY — A 29-year-old Union City man was charged with aggravated assault and weapons charges on Sunday, Jan. 13.
At 2:18 a.m., police were dispatched to the 200 block of New Brunswick Avenue to investigate a report of an injured man. It was reported that a suspect had stabbed the victim in the face after a fight outside the Triangle Cafe, 181 New Brunswick Avenue. The victim told police that he had an argument with a man inside the cafe and then he was assaulted.
At 7:57 a.m., Joshua Sanz came into the police station and reported that he was in a fight with another man. After a police investigation, Sanz was arrested. Judge Maria Del Valle Koch set bail at $25,000 with no 10 percent option.
The charges against Sanz are merely accusations; he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
