CLARK — Students in Meghan Zampella’s kindergarten class at Valley Road School in Clark learned about the five senses throughout the week. Students labeled pictures of different body parts and created lists of descriptive words. After reading books about the senses students spent one morning experiencing them. They worked with their friends at their table discussing their ideas at each center. Sound was experienced by shaking plastic eggs with items inside and trying to find the match and identifying what was inside. Touch was explored by feeling different types of materials as well as reaching inside a sock and trying to figure out what was inside without looking. Sight was done by searching for items inside of hidden pictures. Lastly, smell used a variety of different objects as well as smells that were applied to sponges.
