CLARK — Third grade students in Miss Parlavecchio’s third grade math class at the Frank K. Hehnly School in Clark are learning about multiplication. The students used the popular card game “war” to help them learn. Each pair of students was given graph paper, and deck of cards. Each player flipped over a card, then they had to draw the equivalent rectangle on the graph paper to help them (for example, 10×3) Students then used the squares on the graph paper to add together in order to find the answer. Other students knew there multiplication facts. The teammate with the highest card took the pile, just like in “war” In the photo above, starting on the left are Gina Peterpaul with Julianna Cistaro.
