CLARK — The eighth grade students in Ms. Drasin’s math class and the sixth grade students in Mrs. Johnson’s math class at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark worked together to construct gift boxes out of greeting cards before winter break.
The students brainstormed ways that they could use math to construct our boxes, and what terms would be useful to know. After that, the teachers demonstrated how to create the box while the students wrote the instructions to follow later. The eighth graders made their boxes a day earlier so they could assist the sixth graders in constructing their boxes.
