CLARK — Concluding their study of the popular children’s novel, “Holes,” by Louis Sachar, students in Ms. Gerlitz’s fifth grade class at Valley Road School in Clark used their creativity to create advertisements. Throughout the novel, the main character’s father struggles to create an invention to provide a better life for his family. Comically, at the end of the story he creates an award-winning product that cures foot odor. Using knowledge from the story, the students enthusiastically worked with their reading partner to create the first advertisement for the new product. Each set of partners presented their advertisement to the class, along with a catchy slogan for the product. In the picture above students in Ms. Gerlitz’s fifth grade class display their artwork.
