CRANFORD – Finding a job in a weak economy can be difficult but job seekers can improve their prospects by learning important job search skills to help stand out. Three Continuing Education classes will be offered in the spring and will be taught by seasoned industry professionals.
The first class, Make Your Resume Work for You, will teach students how to write a clear and concise resume with a balance of marketability and accuracy. Students will also learn tips on making their resumes “scannable” for computer screening and other tips for developing a professional document. This class will be offered on Saturday January 19 from 10:00 am – noon and the cost is $45.
The next class, Developing Confidence for the Job Interview, will teach students how to prepare for this key step in the road to employment. It will include interview etiquette, interview do’s and don’ts, how to handle trick questions, types of questions to ask, how to close an interview to their advantage, and salary negotiation. This class will be offered on Monday January 26 from 10:00 am – noon and the cost is $45.
A new class, Networking Your Way to a New Job, will teach about the important role of networking in the job search process. Topics covered include proper ways to network, informational interviews, job search aids, and networking guides. Short role plays will be conducted to stimulate actual networking and interview scenarios. This class will be offered on Saturday March 23 from 9:00 am – noon and the course cost is $55.
