SANDY HOOK–The New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium (NJSGC) will continue a tradition started in 2012 and offer a series of desktop calendars for download to help welcome the New Year and celebrate the Jersey Shore.

The NJSGC 2013 Shore Shots desktop collection will again embrace the natural elements of New Jersey Beaches through photography and feature many outstanding entries from the NJ Top Ten Beaches photo contest which was the foundation for the award-winning 2012 Jersey Shore Shots calendar. The 2013 series will also feature shots from the staff at NJSGC and the National Park Service at Sandy Hook plus past NJSGC photo contributors. The January calendar showcases a striking pristine image of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse at dawn after a snowstorm, taken by local nature photographer Bill Dalton of Interlaken, who has provided images to NJSGC in the past for media events and special projects.

“There were so many incredible images among the hundreds submitted for the Top Ten Beaches Photo contest we wanted to be able to share more of them,” noted Kim Kosko, NJSGC director of communications. “The desktop collection seemed to be a perfect way to do that and to help us all us all remember what a true treasure the Jersey Shore is and hopefully motivate us to all work together to restore the shore to its pre-Sandy glory.”

The first series of 2012 desktop calendars featuring the photo contest winners proved to be one of the most popular destinations on the organization’s website this past year. The new calendars will be available for download beginning the last week of December on the NJSGC home page at
