NEWARK—The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) and New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) present Yo-Yo Ma with the NJSO, a one-performance-only program on Thursday, Jan. 10, at 7:30 p.m. in NJPAC’s Prudential Hall. The legendary cellist performs Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the Orchestra on a program that also includes Elgar’s Enigma Variations and Ravel’s Bolero.

“Yo-Yo is a unique artist,” NJSO Music Director Jacques Lacombe says. “He is such a gifted musician, but [even more than that] he is a very open artist who has sparked a lot of interesting collaborations. It’s obvious in everything he does that he is focusing on creating quality music—whatever he touches, he makes his own, but always brings the focus back to the music, not to himself. [His performance of Elgar’s Cello Concerto] will be a very exciting experience.”

Tickets start at $25 and are available for purchase from the NJSO by phone at 1-800-ALLEGRO (255-3476) or online at www.njpac.org. This performance is part of the NJPAC Bank of America Classical Series.
