LINDEN – Two city teens were arrested for allegedly stealing a mail parcel that contained wrapped Christmas presents from the front foyer of an Orchard Park residence. A third suspect is being sought by authorities.

On Tuesday, Dec. 11, an off-duty police officer saw three individuals walk up to a residence on the 2700 block of Orchard Terrace and take the mail parcel at 11:35 a.m. The officer contacted Linden police and followed the suspects to a house on Berlant Avenue.

When officers surrounded the house and rang the doorbell, one of the suspects answered the door. The off-duty officer was able to identify him and another suspect, and the two 16-year-olds were placed under arrest. A third suspect ran out past the officers and fled into a nearby backyard.

Police were able to recover the stolen package and return it to the homeowner.

Charges, which may include burglary and theft, are pending against the suspects, who were released to their parents.
