Elizabeth Wins State Football Title

UNION – With a 37-33 victory over Piscataway on Friday night, the Elizabeth High School Minutemen completed an undefeated season by winning a state championship title.

Elizabeth won the NJSIAA North 2 Group V final, which was played at Kean University.

Senior quarterback Phillip Walker led the come-from-behind effort which was capped off by a 98-yard scoring drive that took just three plays and 39 seconds in the games final moments.

In other Union County High School football action, Summit defeated Palisades Park 30-0 to claim the North 2 Group III title, while Roselle Park fell to Hoboken 39-9 in the North 1 Group I final.
