PERTH AMBOY – A group of about two dozen residents of the Landings at Harborside complex are suing the developer, alleging the company failed to live up to its original promises.
Twelve years ago, New York-based Kushner Companies planned to build 2,000 owner-occupied luxury condos, a ferry to Wall Street, retail space, a community center and parks in a $600 million development that was supposed to be the centerpiece of a Perth Amboy renaissance.
Only two buildings have been completed, and all construction stopped in 2007. The developer has scaled back its original proposal, in part due to the housing market crash. The latest vision for Landings at Harborside includes 576 rental properties, a swimming pool, a restaurant, a marina and an esplanade on the Staten Island Sound.
The lawsuit claims that the residents paid luxury prices without getting promised amenities.
