CLARK — Students in Krista Chapman’s sixth grade mathematics classes at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark are given incentive to complete homework on a regular basis. All students that completed every homework assignment for the first marking period were invited to a pizza lunch to celebrate their excellent effort. Homework is an important part of the learning process and students who complete their homework regularly will benefit. Since homework is mandatory but not graded in the Progressive Mathematics Initiative program, the pizza party is an incentive for students to work hard and in turn do well in math class.
