CLARK — The seventh grade students in Ms. Qualshie and Ms. Drasin’s math class at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark are applying their knowledge of equations with variables to solve word problems. Before they learned how to solve word problems, they brainstormed different words to look for in the problem to let them know what type of equation to set up. Ms. Qualshie and Ms. Drasin set up stations around the room with the four math operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Each student group moved from station to station to identify words that would indicate each operation. At the conclusion of the rotation, the groups shared their findings with the class.
