Remembering the Past by Diane Norek Harrisonby Diane Norek Harrison

ELIZABETH-More from Ed Levy after my Nov. 23 column. “In regard to my mention of the turning point in the war, I should note that in the earlier days of World War II we (the United States of America) were losing. As a very young kid my mother took me to a barbershop on Pingry Place in Elizabeth for haircuts and the barber was a recent immigrant from Germany. He would say to my mother that ‘we are winning.’ Of course it did not end that way.”
