Preservation Hall Jazz Band Brings Creole Christmas To State Theatre

NEW BRUNSWICK—State Theatre will present Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s Creole Christmas on Thursday, Dec. 13 at 8 p.m. Preservation Hall Jazz Band’s Creole Christmas, showcases the holiday season’s most beloved songs in a New Orleans jazz style. Tickets range from $30-60.

Preservation Hall Jazz Band brings authentic New Orleans jazz to New Brunswick with their wildly popular holiday presentation, Creole Christmas. Seasonal favorites to be performed include “Blue Christmas,” “Swinging In A Winter Wonderland,” “Bells Will Be Ringin,” and “The Dreydel Song.”

The members of Preservation Hall Jazz Band include Ben Jaffe (creative director/tuba), Mark Braud (trumpet/vocals), Charlie Gabriel (clarinet/vocals), Clint Maedgen (Saxophone/vocals), Joe Lastie, Jr. (drums), Freddie Lonzo (trombone/vocals), and Rickie Monie (piano).

The Preservation Hall Jazz Band derives its name from Preservation Hall, the venerable music venue located in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, founded in 1961 by Allan and Sandra Jaffe. The band has traveled worldwide spreading their mission to nurture and perpetuate the art form of New Orleans Jazz. Under the auspices of current director, Ben Jaffe, the son of founders Allan and Sandra, Preservation Hall continues with a deep reverence and consciousness of its greatest attributes in the modern day as a venue, band, and record label.
