CRANFORD – Kilkenny House, 112 South Avenue East (across from the train station), will host its third annual Caroling for Cranford fundraiser featuring the Cranford Madrigal Choir on Monday, Dec. 17, from 5 – 10 p.m.

The high school students will serenade diners during three seatings at 5, 6:30 and 8 p.m. in an effort to encourage the community to donate to Cranford Family Care’s “Toys for Tots” collection that will benefit local children. The event will also help raise funds for the Cranford High School music program.

“The Toys for Tots drive targets children who might not otherwise receive any gifts at Christmas,” said Barry O’Donovan, owner of The Kilkenny House. “Music education is important to our young people, and I am pleased again host this popular fundraiser to support Cranford’s high school program. Having survived Hurricane Sandy relatively unscathed, I consider myself fortunate to be in a position to help.”

The Madrigal Choir prepares dozens of holiday songs and carols annually. The choir performs in a variety of community events that began with the Cranford Tree Lighting on Nov. 23 and will continue with performances through the first week of January.

“The choir’s dedication to musical service and their excitement for caroling inspires me every single year,” said Anthony Rafaniello, Cranford High School Choral Director. “We’re so glad to be part of this event at the Kilkenny House again this year and we hope everyone will support the Toys for Tots drive.”

“Any funds raised for the performing arts department will go directly to enhance the educational experience for our students. In the spring they hope to bring in several guest artists and conductors to work directly with their vocal students,” added Rafaniello. “We look forward to seeing everyone on Dec. 17 at Kilkenny House.”
