[PHOTO] Middle School Learn The Importance Of Active Reading

CLARK — Students in Mr. Taillefer and Ms. Bartolomeo’s language arts class at Kumpf Middle School in Clark are reading “The Giver” by Lois Lowry. To better understand the novel, the students are taught to actively read. While doing this, students use symbols to make meaning of what they are reading. The students place sticky notes on pages when they see key information in the novel. Active reading skills help the students comprehend and have a more in depth understanding of the novel.
