Perth Amboy Police Arrest Drug Suspects

PERTH AMBOY – In separate incidents, police arrested two city men and charged them with cocaine possession this week.

On Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 14, police arrested as Eliezer Diaz, 42, in the parking lot of a building on the 300 block of State Street. Members of the Perth Amboy Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau came into contact with Diaz at 5:23 p.m. and they found approximately 17 grams of cocaine and $2,150 in U.S. currency in his possession, police said.

Diaz was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of over ½ ounce of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of Perth Amboy Adult School. Judge George Boyd set bail at $50,000 with no 10 percent option. Detective Mabner Terron led the investigation.

Members of the Special Investigations Bureau were patrolling the area of Johnstone and Sutton streets on Nov. 15 when they came info contact with Jose Alfredo Garcia, 25, at 8:53 p.m. They found approximately 24 grams of cocaine in his possession, police said.

Garcia was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of over ½ ounce of cocaine with the intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of Samuel E. Shull Middle School. Judge George Boyd set bail at $50,000 with no 10 percent option. Detective Carlos Rodriguez led the investigation.

The charges against the defendants are merely accusations; they are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

    Its not ok to arrest someone with drugs a 1,000 feet away from an ADULT school, but its ok to have a correctional center with criminals/parolees 20 feet away from a middle school that teaches from 5th grade to 8th grade students? oh yeah he has the same last name as the mayor! maybe a family member of hers.
