NEWARK – The Boston Pops and conductor Keith Lockhart will take the beloved Holiday Pops on the road this December, with a performance in Newark planned for Sunday, Dec. 2. Lockhart will lead the Boston Pops, along with guest vocal group Five by Design, in holiday classics and new arrangements of seasonal favorites.
Santa Claus himself will make a guest appearance during performance finale—a full-audience Boston Pops sing-along including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and Winter Wonderland.
The Boston Pops holiday concerts began under Arthur Fiedler in 1974 with a three-concert series in Symphony Hall in Boston. Since then, public demand for the performances has grown and this holiday season the Boston Pops will offer 37 concerts at Symphony Hall, in addition to its tour throughout the Northeast.
The Boston Pops will play at New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark on Sunday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, priced from $25 to $125, may be purchased by visiting www.njpac.com or by calling 1-888-GO-NJPAC.
