PERTH AMBOY – Police patrolling the area of Lawrie and Johnstone streets during last week’s storm-related power outage arrested a 21-year-old man and charged him with marijuana possession.

Officer Davis Salazar and Detective Mohamed Mohamed were assigned to patrol duties on Nov. 8 when they spotted Michael Henriquez walking in between houses and looking around in all directions at approximately 11:20 p.m.

After an investigation, they arrested Henriquez and charged him with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Police recovered four knotted sandwich bags containing greenish brown vegetation believed to be marijuana.

Judge George Boyd set bail at $15,000 with no 10 percent option.

The charge against Henriquez is merely an accusation; he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
