DUNELLEN — Every New Jersey family deserves to have a Thanksgiving dinner, especially after dealing with Hurricane Sandy. Heidi’s Cottage Country Gift Store will again be a local drop-off location for the Community FoodBank of NJ’s Turkey Drive. The event is on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Heidi’s Cottage is located at 445 North Avenue (Route 28) in Dunellen.
This year, the turkey drive is being held in memory of Dominick L. “Nick” Spricigo who passed away this summer at the age of 92. Spricigo was the store’s main volunteer for these turkey drives, collecting the food and driving it back to the Community FoodBank of NJ’s location in Hillside.
Items needed to feed New Jersey families: frozen turkeys (never thawed), canned fish/meat, powdered milk and infant formula, boxed or canned meals, peanut butter (plastic jars only), and canned vegetables.
