CRANFORD — The League of Women Voters of the Union Area will hear a talk by a Planned Parenthood representative at its next meeting, to be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue, Cranford.
The speaker will be Leslie Zucker of Springfield, public affairs coordinator for Planned Parenthood of Central and Greater Northern New Jersey for the past 17 years. In that capacity, her duties include advocating on women’s health issues with legislators who represent the agency’s 10-county area as well as recruiting and training volunteers.
Zucker, who served as president of the now-defunct Springfield League of Women Voters from 1974 to 1975, continues active in an effort that also is a major effort for the League: registering voters. She leads registration drives at the agency’s health centers each fall.
Her talk will be preceded by a brief League business meeting.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
The League is a non-partisan organization. Though it never supports or opposes candidates, it does take positions on issues after study by its members.
