PLAINFIELD — The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating two separate homicides that took place in the city of Plainfield on Sunday, Union County First Assistant Prosecutor Albert Cernadas, Jr. announced today.
The first homicide was reported around 4 p.m. at a Martine Avenue address. A woman who lives at the house was found dead of an apparent gunshot wound. A second individual was found unconscious in a detached garage and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities said that a suspect in the case has been identified, is in custody, and charges are pending, but did not release any further details.
Then, at 5:27 p.m. a shooting was reported at 42 Randolph Road, Plainfield. When emergency workers arrived they discovered 19-year-old Keston Alleyne suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. Investigators collected evidence from the scene and are working with the Plainfield Police Division, Union County Sheriff’s Department, and other agencies. No arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
The two homicides do not appear to be related, said Cernadas, and the investigations are continuing.
