LINDEN — While people are recovering from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the impact of the Nor’easter, Morning Star Community Christian Center is preparing to distribute Thanksgiving food baskets to the needy.
Every year Morning Star distributes hundreds of boxes containing the staples necessary to prepare a wholesome holiday meal to local families. This is one of the prime charitable initiatives for Morning Star. Pre-registration is required by sending email to Hospitality@morningstarccc.org. Registration is based on a first-come, first served basis. Pre-registered families may pick up their baskets on Tuesday, Nov. 20 from noon until 7 p.m. at Morning Star, 1009 Chandler Avenue, Linden.
“We are privileged to help those less fortunate and it is our corporate mission to give and serve our local community,” said Senior Pastor Therman Evans. “We are setting out to make this year’s distribution an even greater success than the last. Nothing significant happens in our lives until we begin to serve the needs of others.”
Last year, Morning Star distributed nearly 650 baskets to families. Those baskets fed turkey and all the trimmings for a hearty dinner to more than 2500 people. This year, as Morning Star organizes its annual food baskets, community participation is as important as ever. Companies and organizations looking to give back to their communities should consider a call to Morning Star.
