CLARK — Girl Scouts in Clark Junior Troop 791 were excited to have the opportunity to visit an Emergency Squad and learn what it takes to be an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
Ashley Accardo, an EMT from the Avenel-Colonia First Aid Squad, demonstrated the different types of equipment an EMT uses in the field and shared her experiences with the scouts. The girls then toured an ambulance and acted out emergency situations. The troop concluded their tour by making first aid kits that they could use in their homes or in their cars.
The Girl Scouts, led by Alicia Scipioni, Christa Kukan and Karen Venturella, were very grateful that Accardo and her fellow EMTs took the time to help the scouts earn their first aid patches. The girls were also thankful to have people like Accardo helping the community at large.
