RAHWAY – The Rahway Veterans Central Committee will host a Veterans Day ceremony on Sunday, Nov. 11, at the monuments dedicated to those who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of their country, located at St. Georges Avenue and West Grand Avenue in Rahway.
The ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. Mayor Rick Proctor is scheduled to welcome all to the ceremony and dedicate a wreath from the city. City Council members and members of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders are also expected to attend.
American Legion Post 5, American Legion Post 499, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 681, Catholic War Veterans Post 361, Vietnam Veterans of America, Purple Heart Chapter and the ladies’ auxiliaries will participate. The Rahway High School Marching Band, under the direction of Robert Van Wyck, and the Rahway Marine Junior ROTC, under Master Sgt. Gregory Mintz, will also take part.
Art Matthews, commander of the American Legion, Department of New Jersey, will be the guest speaker.
