STATE – To help residents of the areas hardest-hit by Hurricane Sandy to finding gasoline, GasBuddy developers and created an online tool to track where gasoline is available.
The tool is immediately available for those in the affected regions by visiting gasbuddy.com/sandy from a web broswer via desktop or mobile phone connection. Due to the approval process for smartphone apps, this tool will be web-based only at this time, but GasBuddy is looking into ways to permanently have such a feature in its smartphone apps as well.
GasBuddy spotters in the region are urged to update the fuel availability information so that motorists looking for gasoline can find it. GasBuddy is also working with some gas stations to keep their information updated, but as word gets out about the new tool, use and reporting will likely continue to increase.
