CARTERET – The Carteret Democratic Party will hold a hot dog rally to support its candidates tonight, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge at 82 Elm Street.

To help those who are suffering as a result of Hurricane Sandy, Mayor Daniel Reiman announced that the party will be collecting donations of clothes, blankets, nonperishable food, diapers, formula, games and similar items.

“In lieu of any contribution to the campaign, we’re asking our supporters to write checks to the ‘Borough Hurricane Relief Fund’ and bring them tonight,” Reiman said. “And instead of using your time to put up lawn signs or hand out flyers, we’re asking you to volunteer your time at our community shelter.”
