CRANFORD—The Friends of the Cranford Public Library invite you to join farmer Jenny Lichtenwalner for “Canning Conversations” on Monday, Nov. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Cranford Community Center, 220 Walnut Avenue.
Learn about canning supplies, New Jersey’s seasonal crops, and how they can be safely preserved at home. Attendees will receive how-to guides, recipes, and a list of Cranford Library books on canning. A Q&A session will conclude the presentation.
Lichtenwalner was raised on a farm in Bergen County, graduated from Douglass College, and was a librarian for several years before being persuaded to come back to the farm. She has presented her “Canning Conversations” class at several libraries and farmers markets. In September 2010, she was featured in a Star-Ledger article and video about the growing popularity of home food preservation.
Admission to the program is free and all are welcome.
