BROOKLYN, N.Y.—Following Hurricane Sandy, Brooklyn Botanic Garden (BBG) is encouraging visitors to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Garden with free admission and special programming on Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 4 during garden hours from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Regular free winter weekday admission begins on Tuesday, Nov. 6.)
Some locations in the Garden are cordoned off to protect visitors’ safety during post-storm cleanup. But the Cherry Esplanade, Steinhardt Conservatory, Herb Garden, Lily Pool Terrace, and Discovery Garden—in addition to the new Visitor Center, Terrace Café and Garden Shop—will be open.
Storm cleanup is expected to continue over the course of the next month, with protected areas gradually reopening to the public. Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s first priority is the safety of its visitors, staff and volunteers.
