Rahway Slowly Regaining Power

November 1, 2012

One choice can change many lives... Faith or Fate by John Ruggiero

RAHWAY — City residents are slowly beginning to see power restored. As of 1 p.m., PSE&G was still reporting that between 2,001 and 5,000 customers remained without electricity.

Power is being restored substation by substation, not by street. As each substation is restored, PSE&G is re-energizing the circuits out of that substation as they are determined to be safe.

Residents should treat all power lines on the ground as if they are live, even if they appear to be disconnected.

Because of the cold temperatures, officials will open a warming station at the Rahway High School cafeteria from 3-9 p.m. tonight. This is not a shelter, only a place to get warm and charge your cell phone.

A 9 p.m. curfew remains in place tonight.

Residents who suffered losses because of the storm damage may sign up for FEMA assistance online at WWW.FEMA.GOV or by phone at 1- 800-621-3362
