CLARK — In October, students in Ms. Hamilton’s 11th grade English classes at the Arthur L. Johnson High School in Clark have been “learning by doing.” Students take turns assuming the roles of several characters in Arthur Miller’s stage play, Death of a Salesman. In order to make the acting lessons a whole class activity, students around the room must assume the roles of stage directors. These students call out stage directions and other emotions that must be evoked by the actors in order to make the play come alive. This exercise requires the students to not only read but also to analyze, discuss, and present through performance.
