Millions Affected By Storm-Related Power Outages

STATE — More than 2 million New Jersey utility customers were without power Tuesday morning as a result of storm damage from Hurricane Sandy. PSE&G reported 1.2 million customers without power; Jersey Central Power & Light reported more than 930,000 and Atlantic City Electric reported 188,000 power outages.

Utilities are working to assess and repair the damaged equipment, but there is no timetable for service restoration.

To report an outage,

  • PSE&G customers should call 1-800-436 7734.
  • JCP&L customers should call 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877).
  • Atlantic City Electric customers should callĀ 1-800-833-7476.

Customers also should immediately report downed wires to their electric company or local police or fire department. Always assume downed wires are carrying electricity, and keep children and pets away from downed wires.
